(Day 11)
Bryce Canyon National ParkDeep within the heart of Southwestern Utah lies
Bryce Canyon, a majestically sculpted amphitheater carved out of the richly colored orange rock. Throughout the past 10 million years, wind and water have chiseled rock fins and spires from the richly colored sandstone, leaving what the locals call
"Hoodoos" to blanket the amphitheater. Towering high above the burnt orange sand, these hoodoos command creative names such as the
Poodle, Wall Street, and the
Hat Shop. The infinite gaze of the hoodoo pierces the harsh desert landscape, while behind them a thriving forest of spruces, pines, and firs grow atop this high plateau. Bryce Canyon remains the highlight of any trip through Southern Utah, a jewel in the already vivid landscape.
