This short travel day will give you your first views of the mighty Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Pyramid Lake is a stop you won’t forget as you view one of Nevada’s most beautiful recreation areas. Then to Virginia City, a glorious relic of the frontier, once the richest place in the world and a National Landmark. Today you can still see the original houses and saloons. Next you will head for Carson City, where a U.S. Mint was built to process the ore. After Nevada became a state, Carson City was selected as the state capital and quickly became the seat of local, state and territorial government.
