(Day 7) Fresno to Ridgecrest, CA via Sequoia National Park

The morning will bring outstanding views of the great Mt. Whitney (14, 494 feet) as you head south to Sequoia National Park, California’s best kept secret is 400,000 acres and provides endless treasures of sights and activities. The park was named in 1875 by explorer and conservationist John Muir. The Giant Forest, the park’s most famous attraction, is a giant sequoia grove and its celebrated meadows. One of the most famous trees is the General Sherman Tree, considered the largest living tree in the world because of its volume. It weighs approximately 2.7 million pounds, and believed to be 2100 years old. Its height is 274.9 feet and the circumference at ground level is 102.6 feet.
