Day 1

Today your Alaskan adventure begins with your flight to Seattle. Upon arrival at the Seattle Airport, guests who have purchased their airline tickets from YMT Vacations, please meet your YMT staff representative in the baggage claim area for meet and greet services and transfers to the hotel.

Overnight: Holiday Inn Renton*

Day 2

This morning is at leisure before we head to the port. Traveling to the Port of Seattle will show you how vibrant the city has become. Then, it’s time to board your Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel for the start of your Inside Passage Cruise.

Day 3

When explorer John Muir first sailed the Inside Passage he could hardly tear himself away from the rail for fear of missing some new marvel. “Never before,” he wrote, “have I been embosomed in scenery so hopelessly beyond description tracing shining waves through fjord and sound, past forest and waterfall, islands and mountains....” All this while you’re gliding along in the lap of luxury aboard the NCL Jewel.

Day 4

Nicknamed “The Salmon Capital of the World,” this important fishing port is also home to the world’s largest collection of Native American totem poles. You can enjoy a stroll through the picturesque waterfront district of this quaint boardwalk city built on stilts, as well as the historic and former “Red Light” district amid gold shops, gift shops and restaurants.

Day 5

In Alaska’s capital you may choose to taste salmon baked over an alder wood fire, pan for gold, flightsee the Juneau Icefield, Sawyer Glacier, or walk right up to Mendenhall Glacier located just outside the city limits. There are ample shore excursions to fill your day. Juneau is nestled at the feet of snowcapped Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts and is nicknamed “Little San Francisco” because of its narrow streets and flights of wooden steps hugging the hillside on which its multicolored houses are built. This afternoon after departing Juneau, your delightful cruise will take you to Sawyer Glacier. Dress warmly and find a place at the ship’s rail to view this spectacular show. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars. Your ship will creep slowly toward the glacier before stopping. Prepare to be stunned when you first glimpse the color - glacial ice is an incredible and indescribable blue. Sawyer Glacier calves constantly, shedding huge blocks of ice - so have your camera at the ready.

Day 6

Where the Gold Rush began, Skagway was the turbulent staging point for prospectors hell-bent on getting to the Klondike gold fields. Go ashore. Stroll the weathered boardwalks and drop in at old-time saloons or shop for gold nuggets. You can purchase tickets for a ride in a vintage parlor car up the historic White Horse Pass via a narrow gauge railway. Skagway has preserved the atmosphere of the 1898 gold rush better than any other town in Alaska.

Day 7

Swim, take in a show, try your luck in the casino—you can really relax and enjoy yourself today.

Day 8

On the way back to the continental US, a stop in Canada’s Garden City, Victoria BC, will enchant you! Perhaps take an organized shore excursion to the famed Butchard Gardens, or simply take a stroll in the Inner Harbor area. Either way, Victoria will be a great conclusion to your cruise before you spend your last night aboard the Jewel.

Day 9

Seattle is a place where the mountains and the oceans seem to have had a love affair and given birth to this wonderful, tree-filled city. Your City Tour will include highlights of this city spread out between streams, lakes and a river. Amongst these will be the famous Pikes Place market, the original and first Starbucks, Pioneer Square and the space needle. After free time for lunch on your own we head for the hotel and the balance of the day is at leisure.

Day 10

The Amtrak Coast Starlight travels south through the Pacific Northwest ending in Martinez, CA. Coast Starlight Train departs at approx. 9:45AM and arrives the next morning.) 

The Coast Starlight is a passenger train route operated by Amtrak on the West Coast of the United States. It runs 1,377 miles from King Street Station in Seattle, Washington, to Union Station in Los Angeles, California. 

The train’s name was inspired by the trains of the Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) that operated in California, mainly along the same route as the current Coast Starlight. SP’s passenger trains in this region carried the name Daylight in some form (e.g. Morning Daylight) The train uses Amtrak’s double-decker Superliner including a Sightseer Lounge car that has floor-to-ceiling windows to watch the passing scenery. The Coast Star- light is the only train on the Amtrak system that features a first-class-only Pacific Parlour lounge car. There are Hi-Level Sky Lounge cars for sleeping-car passengers, offering complimentary beverages, a library and games, an afternoon wine tasting and a movie theater in the lower level. Baggage is placed in a Heritage Baggage Car.

Day 11

Arrive in Martinez, CA. Today, visit the pride of California: the world famous Napa Valley. You will visit two of the area’s premier wineries and taste the wines they have cultivated in this beautiful climate. After wining and dining, head south for the night in San Francisco.

You truly could leave your heart here after your magnificent City Tour. Perched on the edge of the spectacular San Francisco Bay like a seagull soaring on updraft, the city is ringed by graceful bridges, lush parks, and hills bedecked with jewel-like homes. During your city tour you’ll see lots of famous sights, from the pointed Trans-America Pyramid downtown to Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39, you’ll see there’s much to love in this romantic city. Other sites will include Union Square, Presidio Park and stunning views of the city from Twin Peaks. Overnight: Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf*

Day 13

Your flight home will give you time to reflect on all the fabulous places you visited and memories you’ve made. You’ll also have time to plan your next YMT vacation!
