YMT Vacations was proud to be an exhibitor at this year’s AARP National Event, Life@50+. In celebration, we gave attendees who came by our exhibit (booth 1004) a chance to enter into a drawing to win a free Alaska tour. If you have not heard about the AARP national convention, please read on!
Life at 50
AARP’s Life@50+ National Event and Expo took place September 22-24 and addresses the different facets of life at 50+, from travel and daily living to managing health and finances. With over 25,000 attendees, the three day conference took place in the LA Convention Center (1201 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90015) and attracted an audience apt to enjoy the benefits of AARP membership and insure they are living life to the fullest. The convention included panel discussions, product demonstrations, and expert speakers, as well as celebrity guest and performers.
Headliners
The Life@50+ AARP Expo has gathered some of the finest speakers in politics, business, academics, and entertainment to welcome, perform, converse, and share their knowledge. Thursday morning’s opening show included Carol Burnett and Tim Conway, kicking off the AARP convention with laughs and introducing the Master of Ceremonies, James Brown. The celebrity list did not end there though; other guest speakers include Leeza Gibbons, Sugar Ray Leonard, Lionel Richie, Kareem Adbul-Jabbar, Spike Lee, Lily Tomlin, Richard Simmons, Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez!
AARP travel enthusiast were able to enjoy several sessions by AARP’s Travel Ambassador and CBS News’ Travel Editor Peter Greenberg. Peter shared a session on “Navigating the Online Travel Realm” as well as hosted the movie “Mexico: The Royal Tour.”
Saturday night, Tony Bennett held a concert and played some of his greatest hits along with Stevie Wonder and Carrie Underwood in celebration of his 85th birthday! Proceeds from the performance will benefit Drive to End Hunger, a very worthy AARP program.
