Bonn: The birthplace of Beethoven
Widely known as the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, Bonn, Germany, has become a popular destination for visitors due to its rich history and impressive architecture. The city is also conveniently located on the banks of the Rhine, making it a frequent stop on cruises of the river.

As the hometown of Beethoven, many of the famous sites in the city pay homage to his legacy. Among them is the stately Beethoven Monument located in the front of the building where he was born. The statue was unveiled in 1845 in honor of the 75th anniversary of the composer's birth and features Beethoven and his characteristic steely gaze.

One of Germany's oldest churches, Bonn Minster, also calls the city home. Most estimates put its date of completion anywhere between the 11th and 13th century. Visitors can marvel at its 267 foot steeple jutting out into the Bonn sky.

Of course, Bonn is much more than the birthplace of Beethoven. The city is also home to some impressive modern landmarks including Post Tower - the ninth tallest building in Germany. At just over 533 feet tall, the skyscraper has become famous for its unique energy-saving design.
