St. Mark's Basilica
Travelers will not go wrong when choosing Venice as their vacation destination. The legendary city is a beautiful place to visit full of cultural activities and Italian history that will keep visitors occupied for days.

San Marco (or Saint Mark) Square is a great place to begin. Bring a camera along to capture the massive Byzantine-era basilica, which gets its architectural inspiration from Istanbul's Haga Sophia mosque. The gothic Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace) is also in this area, which overlooks the Venetian Lagoon and the plaza.

Since Venice is built upon water, travelers can take advantage of the opportunities to explore the city with a ride in the lagoon. A gondola ride can be a great way to see the city with family or friends, or can even be an intimate and romantic activity to do with a partner at sunset while the gondolier sings Italian songs.

This Italian town is also known for its fine Venetian glass. Glass-blowers create some of the most ornate and intricate designs, which visitors are able to take home as a souvenir. Check out a local shop to see a demonstration or to pick up a gift for a loved one.
