Day 1

Fly to San Francisco

Today, your Alaskan adventure begins with your flight to San Francisco. If you booked your flight with YMT, you will meet a YMT representative at the airport for your transfer to the hotel.

Four Points by Sheraton Bay Bridge or similar

Day 2

San Francisco Sightseeing and Board Amtrak's Coast Starlight

Wake up and smell the salty sea air of the City by the Bay! The morning is at your leisure, after which you will embark on an afternoon sightseeing cruise through the legendary San Francisco Bay. Highlights include the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge, likely the world’s most photographed suspension bridge, and the notorious Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary.

Alcatraz was one of the 20th century’s most feared prisons—both because of the dangerous criminals it housed, and because over its 29-year history not a single inmate successfully escaped. Next, sit down with your fellow guests to an included Welcome Dinner. Finally, board the legendary Coast Starlight train this evening, which will take you hundreds of coastal miles to Seattle. (D)

Day 3

Coast Starlight to Seattle

As your train takes you to Seattle, enjoy Amtrak's doubledecker Superliner, which includes a Sightseer Lounge car with panoramic windows, perfect for watching the magnificent scenery pass you by. (B, L, D)

Hilton Bellevue or similar

Day 4

Seattle City Tour and Board Holland America's ms Oosterdam (Departs at 4:00 PM)

Discover the Emerald City, arguably the crown jewel of the Pacific Northwest, on a guided morning tour of Seattle. See Pike Place Market, a landmark since 1907, the iconic 605-foot-tall Space Needle, and Pioneer Square, where you will learn about the history of the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. Board Holland America's ms Oosterdam this afternoon. An experienced crew is on hand to outline the many available amenities and activities.

Day 5

At Sea

The winner of multiple prestigious awards, including Best Overall from the Cruisers’ Choice Awards, excellence is the default for the ms Oosterdam. This full day at sea promises to be an enjoyable one!

Day 6

Stephens Passage Scenic Cruising and Juneau (1:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

As you travel the waters of Stephens Passage next to densely forested mountains, remember to keep an eye on the sea. Stephens Passage is well known for having some of the best whale watching in Alaska, and the Passage’s massive sea lions love nothing more than basking on rocks and bellowing at passing vessels. Today’s port of call is Juneau. Nestled at the feet of snowcapped Mt. Juneau and Mt. Roberts, Alaska's state capital is nicknamed "Little San Francisco" because of its narrow streets and flights of wooden steps that hug the rolling landscape. Admire the multicolored houses built into the hillsides as you wander and completely immerse yourself in the Alaskan lifestyle.

Savor the rich beauty of Glacier Gardens, see the largest salmon ladder in Alaska and visit the Mendenhall Glacier. Includes a stop at the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery $89 p/p. Please add this option attimeof booking.

Day 7

Hubbard Glacier (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM)

Today, cruise along Hubbard Glacier, the largest calving glacier on the North American continent. Witness the spectacle of glacial calving, when large chunks of ice crash into the water, creating a gloriously booming sound the native Tlingit people called “white thunder.” Hubbard is more than 70 miles long; the cliff face you sail along is six miles wide and over 300 feet high.

Day 8

Sitka (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Widely considered one of Alaska’s greatest small towns, Sitka is an interesting hybrid of Native America and Russian cultures. Don’t miss the stunning St. Michael’s Cathedral or Sitka National Historic Park, where you will learn how the Southeast Alaska Native Culture and Alaska’s strong Russian heritage combine.

Day 9

Ketchikan (7:00 AM – 1:00 PM)

Nicknamed the "Salmon Capital of the World," this important fishing port is also home to the world's largest collection of Native American totem poles. You can enjoy a stroll through the picturesque waterfront district of this quaint boardwalk city built on stilts.

Day 10

Victoria, BC (6:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

As the sun begins to set, explore British Columbia’s idyllic capital city that proudly sports more than a bit of that good English charm. Much of this former British colony’s Victorian architecture still stands, including the grand Craigdarroch Castle Mansion, and magnificent Parliament Buildings. This highly walkable city is also a mecca for food lovers—try out highly creative restaurants right on the waterfront.

Day 11

Disembark in Seattle and Depart for Home (7:00 AM)

This morning we return to Seattle as your Alaska adventure comes to an end.

On Cruise
For most ocean cruises, consider three different types of clothing: casual attire for days aboard, layered outfits for time in port, and smart or formal eveningwear. Contact your respective cruise line for their dress code and guidelines for evening attire. Typically, a larger amount of nights is reserved for more casual clothing while some evenings are set aside for formalwear. Some recommendations for daywear include slacks or pants, blouses or shirts, knit tops or polo shirts. Bring a pair of sneakers or rubber-soled shoes for deck sports and a swimsuit cover-up for cool areas on the ship. As port wear for women consider a casual dress, skirt and blouse, or pants outfit; for men, casual pants or walking shorts, and polo-type shirts. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Also, remember to bring extra bathing suits, as well as sun block, sun visors and other types of sun protection. Formal attire can include cocktail dress, gown, or dressy pantsuit for women and a tuxedo, suit, or dinner jacket with slacks for men. Note that T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are often not allowed in certain areas of the ship, for example restaurants.
