Day 1 & 2

Depart US to Munich

After an overnight flight arrive in Munich, city of alpine beauty and culinary delights. If you booked your air through YMT, you will be met by a local YMT representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel. At night, meet your fellow travelers and Tour Director for an included Welcome Dinner at your hotel. (D)

Day 3

Munich Sightseeing and Transfer to Engelhartszell and Embarkation

Enjoy a 4-hour city tour of Munich, known for its hardy German cuisine, beer specialties and the original Oktoberfest; it also has a vibrant art scene and beautifully preserved architecture. Then, transfer to nearby Engelhartszell, where the crew of the A-ROSA Donna will greet you with a rose before the ship sets sail to Vienna. (B, D)

Day 4

Vienna (Arrive 2:00 PM)

After a night and morning of silent cruising and Passage of locks along the river, the afternoon and the night are yours in Vienna. Explore of the imperial city with an included shore excursion during a city tour. Return to the ship for dinner and perhaps join fellow travelers on an optional outing to a “Heurigen” – a local wine pub with traditional Viennese live music. (B, L, D)

Day 5

Vienna and Evening Departure to Esztergom (Depart 8:00 PM)

Enjoy the full day in Vienna! This classical city of music, waltz, and the royal Habsburg dynasty has a lot to offer. Our shore excursions program offers a visit to the Imperial Palace of Schoenbrunn, or if you prefer, venture into town or perhaps take a spin on the famous Ferris wheel at the Prater. (B, L, D)

Day 6

Esztergom (8:00 AM–10:30 PM) to Budapest (Arrive 3:00 PM)

Savor the full breakfast buffet as the ship docks in Esztergom. One of Hungary’s oldest cities, Esztergom is home to the Basilica, the main Roman Catholic church of Hungary. The Donna will continue to nearby Budapest, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. This World Heritage Site includes the banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue, Heroes’ Square and the Millennium Underground Railway. Tonight the included shore excursion through the night-lit city will surely delight you! (B, L, D)

Day 7

Budapest (Depart 4:00 PM)

Enjoy the morning in Budapest. Perhaps join an excursion to the Hungarian countryside, “the Puszta,” to visit a horse-breeding farm and enjoy presentations of the local Hungarian cowboys (optional). (B, L, D)

Day 8

Bratislava (9:00 AM–6:00 PM)

Wake up in Slovakia and spend the day discovering beautiful Bratislava! Join a city tour to the towering castle and Old Town, or walk in the historic town center on your own. (B, L, D)

Day 9

Wachau Passage to Melk (12:00 PM–4:00 PM)

After breakfast, a cruise highlight awaits as the Donna glides through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Wachau region. Surrounded by apricot orchards, marvel at Duernstein where once Richard Lion Heart was held captive. Then, arrive in Melk, where you’ll see the monastery that towers over the Danube. Enjoy your last night aboard as we journey back to Engelhartszell. (B, L, D)

Day 10

Engelhartszell (Disembark) to Prague via Passau

Meet your YMT Tour Director in Engelhartszell and say goodbye to the A-ROSA crew. Tour beautiful Passau, the site of a three river confluence and home to the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, which houses the largest historic organ in the world. Continue by motor coach to Prague for a 2-night stay. (B)

Day 11


Explore Prague with a comprehensive half-day city tour and sightseeing on your own. The historic center of Prague has been named an UNESCO World Heritage Site and you will surely see why. (B)

Day 12

Travel to Rothenburg o.d. Tauber via Nuremberg

Travel through Nuremberg with time for lunch on your own before you arrive in Rothenburg. This enchanting medieval town in the heart of Germany’s Franconia is fully preserved and part of the Romantic Road. Enjoy a 2-hour city tour and the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 13

King Ludwig Castles and Munich

Today you will get to see two of the famous King Ludwig castles: the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, where you will have photo opportunities. We will continue to Oberammergau with time for lunch on your own. Then, the enchanting Linderhof Palace, where you will have a guided tour of the interior and some time in the magnificent gardens. Return to Munich for your farewell dinner at the world-famous Hofbräuhaus. (B, D)

Day 14

Depart for Home

It’s time to say goodbye and to travel back home with plenty of memories from your European river cruise and tour. If you have booked your air with YMT you will be transferred to Munich Airport to catch your return flight to the US. Guest who have made individual air arrangements will have to make their own way to the airport.

Note: Some of the sightseeing and visits included in this tour require up to 2 hours of walking and some periods of standing. Steps, stairs, and uneven ground will also be encountered on occasion. This does not pose a challenge to most guests, but should be considered when booking this tour.
