Day 5

San Remo Tour and Embarkation in Genoa

Your day starts with a panoramic city tour of beautiful San Remo. The city produces some of the finest olive oil in the world—its coastal climate is ideal for olive trees, which dot the hillsides throughout the area. La Pigna, Italian for “the pine cone,” is San Remo’s medieval section, where you will see exceptional old churches, squares, and buildings throughout the narrow streets. From San Remo, travel to Genoa to board the MSC Divina. (B)

Day 6

Civitavecchia/Rome, Italy (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

What trip to Italy would be complete without a stop in the legendary capital city and the seat of the Holy Roman Empire? There is history wherever you look, and world-class shopping, outstanding food, and a vibrant culture.

Day 7

At Sea

Inspired by the timelessly beautiful Sophia Loren, the Divina brings you all the elegance and glamour of the golden age of travel. Built with style, luxury and attention to detail, she boasts a stone piazza, the grand Casino Veneziano, and the Pantheon Theatre where guests can enjoy world-class entertainment.

Day 8

Valencia, Spain (8:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

This former Roman colony is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Spain due to its appealing combination of culture and history—especially the ancient Serrans and Quart Towers in the medieval city, and the Monasterio de San Miguel de los Reyes. Paella was born in Valencia, and in between meals, you can enjoy numerous museums, parks, and the city’s impressive architecture.

Day 9

At Sea

Day 10

Lisbon, Portugal (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

Portugal’s coastal capital is watched over by 7 picturesque hills, and their view of an ancient city with cobblestoned streets and stately ruins, combined with a thoroughly modern metropolis, is one of Europe’s prettiest. Make sure to come to Lisbon hungry, as their restaurants have access to a tremendous variety of fresh seafood and succulent Alentejan beef.

Day 11

At Sea

Days 12 & 13

Ponta Delgada, Azores (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM next day)

This stunning island city is best known for its historic buildings, vibrant green hillsides, friendly people, and confections made with the unique Azorean pineapple. The soil on the island is perfect to grow the tropical fruit, but the unpredictable weather necessitates the use of greenhouses, which produces a slow growing but very sweet pineapple you must try in a pineapple cake, mousse, or chutney.

Days 14-18

At Sea

Day 19

Bridgetown, Barbados (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

The capital of Barbados is one of the Caribbean’s biggest tourist draws. Its expansive old town, known as Historic Bridgetown, and its Garrison is an especially stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site. The many serene beaches, whose soft sand and warm, crystal clear water are the perfect place to dip your toes.

Day 20

Fort de France, Martinique (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Fort de France is the quintessential Caribbean city. It produces rum and sugar, is dotted with exquisite beaches, and its main draw is the stunning Fort St-Louis, a 17th century seaside fortress built to protect the island from invaders, naval enemies, and of course, pesky pirates.

Day 21

Phillipsburg, St. Maarten (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

St. Maarten is divided between two nations— France and the Netherlands. You’ll visit the island’s Dutch speaking southern side, while the northern side, the slightly different named Saint Martin, speaks French. Both sides boast crystalclear turquoise water, white sandy beaches and lush green hills.

Day 22

San Juan, Puerto Rico (7:00 AM – 2:00 AM next day)

In the colorful Puerto Rican capital, there are some truly unmissable highlights—authentic Puerto Rican food, and Old San Juan. At the heart of the famous historic district is Castillo San Cristobal, a Spanish fort completed in the 1700’s that is now an incredibly well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. As for food, you should try mofongo—fried plantains smashed into flavorful spices and meats, traditionally pork cracklings, and served piping hot!

Days 23 & 24

At Sea

Day 25

Henry and the Royal Military College of Canada.  Then we take to the water on an included 2.5 hour boat cruise through the 1000 Islands enjoying a fascinating narrative of the area’s history and views of the fabulous summer homes of the rich and famous including Boldt Castle.

Our tour then crosses back into the U.S. and travels through the colorful fall foliage of the beautiful Adirondacks with a stop at Lake Placid, site of the famous “Miracle on Ice” when the US men’s hockey team defeated the Russians in the 1990 Olympic Winter Games.  We then journey through the breathtaking Green and White Mountains stopping to visit Franconia Notch State Park and the magnificent Flume Gorge.  Turning south, the tour heads into Boston, Massachusetts and where you will enjoy a city tour including following the Freedom Trail, seeing the Boston Common and the Paul Revere House.  Next you follow the New England coastline to Cape Cod and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore with its pristine beaches, lighthouses and wild cranberry bogs.  There you will have the chance to join fellow travelers for an optional tour to Martha’s Vineyard before heading into Rhode Island for a visit to one of the famous Newport Mansions.
