Welcome to the capital of the United States of America! Guests who booked air with YMT will be greeted by a YMT representative and transferred to their hotel.

Washington, D.C.

Enjoy a half-day city tour and learn about the history that surrounds Washington D.C. Take in views of the powerful and awe-inspiring monuments and historic locations that pay tribute to the Nation's past like the Washington Monument, and Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans, WWII & Korean War Veterans Memorials. Finally you'll have the chance to take a picture of the White House. The afternoon is at leisure - join one of the optional tours or wander off to explore this fascinating city on your own. (B)

Day 3

Washington, D.C.

This morning we are heading to Arlington National Cemetery, an enduring tribute to those who’ve dedicated their lives to defending our nation. Enjoy an included self-guided tour with plenty of time: A 45-minute bus loop gives you the chance to hop on and off at 10 stops, including the grave site of President John F. Kennedy, the U.S. Coast Guard Memorial and the Memorial Amphitheater. Learn about the cemetery's history, the heroes who rest there, and other stories from your knowledgeable guide onboard the bus. Don't miss the "Changing of the guards" every half hour at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded 24/7/365 by volunteer Sentinels from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment headquartered at Fort Myer, VA. Afterwards the tour continues to the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. (B)

Day 4

Washington, D.C. to Mt. Vernon to Williamsburg

Your tour continues to Mount Vernon, George Washington's famous mansion. Enjoy a self-guided tour and explore the grounds, including the reconstructed Slave Quarters, working Blacksmith Shop, immersive Pioneer Farm site, and stunning gardens. In the afternoon we will visit the Jamestown Settlement, America's first permanent English colony. Relive the experience through a re- created Powhatan Indian village, colonial fort and three replica ships that demonstrate daily life in early 17th century Jamestown. End the day with a traditional 18th century dinner experience in Williamsburg at the Kings Arms, famous for their Peanut Soup. (B, D)

Day 5

Williamsburg to Shenandoah National Park

Explore Colonial Williamsburg and enjoy four hours sampling some of the best of this Historic Area. Tour the Governor’s Palace, Capitol, or Raleigh Tavern and learn of the debates that raged in the years leading to independence. Visit a trade shop or historic house and discover something about the everyday life of Williamsburg’s 18th-century residents. Colonial Williamsburg will take you back in time to the dawn of America. In the afternoon continue to Shenandoah National Park. Follow Skyline Drive along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains and enjoy stunning views. We are overnighting at historic Skyland Resort inside the park. (B)

Day 6

Shenandoah National Park to Gettysburg

See the sun rise from Skyline Drive's highest elevation at 3,680 feet and enjoy a leisurely morning before we continue to Gettysburg. See the most important battlefield of the Civil War, brought to life by the stories you’ll hear from your local battlefield guide. And learn about the "Gettysburg Address" and Lincoln's 272 words that defined the meaning, value and price of freedom. (B)

Day 7

Gettysburg to Amish Country to Philadelphia

Today we will travel through Pennsylvania Dutch Country with a stop at an Amish outpost to learn more about this traditional way of living. Visit an Amish house and make sure to stop at the store for handmade quilts and homemade jams. Then continue to the iconic Strasburg Rail Road, America's oldest short-line railroad - circa 1832. Enjoy an included lunch aboard the authentically restored dining car pulled by a real steam- powered locomotive during a 45-minute ride through farmland where Amish farmers can sometimes be seen working their fields by horse plow. Then continue to Philadelphia, the cradle of American liberty. During a city tour you will see Independence National Historic Park, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Franklin Court and more. Philadelphia to New York

Visit the National Constitution Center and explore the many exhibitions including ‘Freedom Rising,’ a 360-degree theatrical production that vividly illuminates the story of the U.S. Constitution and ‘Signer’s Hall,’ where you can sign the Constitution alongside 42 life-size bronze statues of the Founding Fathers. Then we continue to New York, the Big Apple. Upon arrival enjoy a 1-hour boat cruise with unparalleled views of Manhattan’s iconic skyline and landmarks, including the Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. New York

The day starts with a fabulous city tour of New York - See the major sights of the "Big Apple," including views of the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and the Chrysler Building. Stop at Central Park, one of world's most renowned green spaces, and drive by famous Times Square with its flashing neon lights and giant digital billboards - big, bright, and unforgettable! Then your day continues with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial, a place of remembrance. The rest of the day is at your leisure to fill how you'd like - explore this city by yourself or perhaps join one or both of our optional tours. (B)

Autumn Leaves Tour

Introduction

Imagine traveling through the heart of America’s history while witnessing the kaleidoscopic spectacle of fall colors in the Northeastern United States.  Our 14-day Autumn Leaves Tour takes you from Philadelphia to Gettysburg, Niagara Falls, along the shores of Lake Ontario, through the Adirondacks, the Green & White Mountains, Boston, Cape Cod, Bridgeport, New York City and back into Philadelphia against a backdrop of the rich colors of fall. 

Our tour begins where our nation began, in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - the cradle of American liberty, where you will see Independence National Historic Park, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Franklin Court.  Next you will travel through the colorful fall scenery of picturesque Pennsylvania Dutch Country stopping at an Amish outpost to learn about this traditional way of life before visiting historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - the most important battlefield of the Civil War.  You then continue north through Pennsylvania and New York State, stopping at the Corning Museum of Glass which showcases spectacular pieces of glass art and conducts demonstrations of glass blowing. 

You will need to bring your passport on this tour as you will cross the Canadian border to the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls where millions of gallons of water spew over the horseshoe-shaped falls creating a powerful sight and sound.  The tour continues along the shores of Lake Ontario to Kingston, home to Ft. Henry and the Royal Military College of Canada.  Then we take to the water on an included 2.5 hour boat cruise through the 1000 Islands enjoying a fascinating narrative of the area’s history and views of the fabulous summer homes of the rich and famous including Boldt Castle. 

Our tour then crosses back into the U.S. and travels through the colorful fall foliage of the beautiful Adirondacks with a stop at Lake Placid, site of the famous “Miracle on Ice” when the US men’s hockey team defeated the Russians in the 1990 Olympic Winter Games.  We then journey through the breathtaking Green and White Mountains stopping to visit Franconia Notch State Park and the magnificent Flume Gorge.  Turning south, the tour heads into Boston, Massachusetts and where you will enjoy a city tour including following the Freedom Trail, seeing the Boston Common and the Paul Revere House.  Next you follow the New England coastline to Cape Cod and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore with its pristine beaches, lighthouses and wild cranberry bogs.  There you will have the chance to join fellow travelers for an optional tour to Martha’s Vineyard before heading into Rhode Island for a visit to one of the famous Newport Mansions. Finally, you will discover the “Big Apple” - New York City, with sightseeing including the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building and Central Park before continuing to Philadelphia to depart for home full of memories of a lifetime.

National Parks of the Golden West Tour

Introduction

America’s National Park System is the envy of the world, and on our 14-day National Parks of the Golden West Tour, experience its magnificence when you visit 9 different US National Parks.  Most people only get to see one or two of these parks in their lifetime; seeing so many of them on one tour makes it an exceptional opportunity.

Our tour begins with your arrival in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada with leisure time to enjoy the endless entertainment opportunities. Take a chance at a card game or one-armed bandit, visit a show or simply relax at your hotel. Then the tour is off to see Natural Wonders and it is only befitting to start with a bang: one of the seven Natural Wonders of the world- the majestic Grand Canyon National Park. Enjoy an overnight stay inside the park giving you the opportunity to witness this awe-inspiring landscape both at sunset and sunrise.  Next, discover the sacred Monument Valley  Navajo Tribal Park the Navajo Nation’s equivalent to a national park.  Travel west to visit Zion National Park with its massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink and red en route to the astonishingly red glowing Bryce Canyon National Park showing off it’s intricate limestone rock formations created by erosion called “hoodoos."  The journey then heads northeast through picturesque Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks enjoying the stunning vistas of naturally formed sandstone cliffs, arches, canyons, domes and bridges throughout.  

Headed west, we travel into Utah’s capitol, Salt Lake City  and see the lake that gives this city its name, the largest salt water lake in the Western Hemisphere, the unique Great Salt Lake. with it’s nearby The Bonneville Salt Flats, famous as a site for land speed records. Majestic Lake Tahoe awaits with 72 miles of pristine shorelines making it the largest alpine lake in North America. From here it is on to California and another jewel in the National Park system: Yosemite National Park. Witness its extraordinary landscapes of granite cliffs, plunging waterfalls, towering trees, pristine streams and abundant wildlife.  Continue through Kings Canyon National Parks and view the famed ancient giant redwoods, some of which tower over 300 feet. Weather permitting, we travel through Death Valley National Park, the lowest point of elevation in North America on the way back into Las Vegas to depart for home full of memories to share for a lifetime.
