Arrive in Amsterdam

After an overnight flight, arrive to Amsterdam! If you purchased airline tickets from YMT Vacations, a YMT representative will welcome you at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and transport you to the hotel. This evening, relax on your own and then get to know your fellow travelers over a welcome dinner at your hotel, where you will learn about the exciting days ahead. (D)

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Enjoy a half-day boat tour through Amsterdam’s scenic canals, where you will see Dam Square with the Royal Palace, New Church, the National Monument, and the Skinny Bridge across the River Amstel. Your cruise concludes in central Amsterdam, at which point you will continue for a short time on foot before stopping for free time and lunch on your own. The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure. (B)

Lerwick, Scotland (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM)

Welcome to the Shetland Islands, a breathtaking archipelago between Norway and mainland Scotland whose nearly 100 islands contain some of the most incredible landscapes in all of Great Britain. Lerwick is Shetland's only town, and many of its waterfront sandstone buildings date from before the 18th century. The Shetland Islands are celebrated for their many miles of coastline fringed by towering clifftops, pristine beaches and crystal-clear blue shores. Their very appealing for animal lovers as well; keep your eyes peeled for thousands of seabirds from gannets to puffins, seals, otters and orcas, and of course the famous Shetland ponies.

Seydisfjördur, Iceland (8:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Welcome to Seydisfjördur! Made up of colorful wooden houses and surrounded by snowcapped mountains and cascading waterfalls, picturesque Seydisfjördur is the most historically and architecturally interesting town in East Iceland.

Day 9

Akureyri, Iceland (9:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Settled in the 9th century, Akureyri nestles at the head of Eyjafjördur, Iceland’s longest fjord, at the base of snowcapped peaks. Today, enjoy YMT's included full-day tour of the Diamond Circle. This route features Icelandic natural wonders including the volcanic "dark castles," lake Mývatn, and Godafoss, the beautiful waterfall where medieval Icelanders adopted Christianity by casting aside pagan icons.

Day 10

Ísafjördur, Iceland (9:00 AM - 9:00 PM)

The West Fjords and the small town of Ísafjördur are among the least known and least travelled places in Iceland—but your port stop along this road less traveled comes with rewards. Some of the most stunning vistas in Iceland can be found here and are even more enjoyable thanks to Isafjördur’s reliably thin crowds. Ísafjördur is also home to the oldest timber frame houses in Iceland, including the Westfjords Heritage Museum. You’re invited on an optional excursion to the island of Vigur, home to a large eider duck colony, puffins, black guillemots, and Arctic terns.

Grundarfjördur, Iceland (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM)

Grundarfjördur is a small town in the north of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in rugged western Iceland. This uniquely beautiful fishing village has excellent seafood, and lucky visitors often report orca sightings from the shore.

Day 12

Reykjavík, Iceland (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

The world’s most northerly capital combines colorful buildings and unique architecture, an appealingly quirky spirit, fabulous cuisine, and a proud Viking past. Learn all about Iceland’s Viking history at the Settlement Exhibition, which was built around the unearthed Viking longhouse of the area's earliest inhabitants, or the enormous National Museum.


Visit Iceland’s geothermal spa's facilities which have been developed into a wellness complex including saunas, a flowing waterfall, and in-water treatments and massages using the all-natural Blue Lagoon skin care products. Includes a guide, comfort package, entrance fee into the lagoon, a towel, mud mask, and one drink of choice for just $184 p/p. The Blue Lagoon requires all bathers to shower before entering the water.

Today, explore Kirkwall, the capital of the Orkney Islands off the northeastern coast of Scotland.

Invergordon, Scotland (8:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Spend the day in Invergordon in the legendary Scottish Highlands, famous for its wild and majestic landscapes. The mystical Highlands are full of rolling hills, jagged cliffs, and some of the most otherworldly vistas in the world.

Bremerhaven, Germany (8:00 AM - 2:00 PM)

Bremerhaven’s waterfront, full of vintage ships, rusty docks and fascinating history, is just part of the German city’s abundant appeal. . Many men, women, and children left here for Ellis Island and a brand-new life in New York—which you can learn about at the German Emigration Centre.

Day 18

Disembark in Amsterdam (Disembark at 8:00 AM)

Today we disembark and spend a final day in Amsterdam. Enjoy the Amsterdam canals, which provide an ideal vantage point to see the city's architecture. The capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is widely considered to be one of Europe’s most sophisticated cities. The evening ends with an included farewell feast. (D)
