Hong Kong Sightseeing

Enjoy an included tour of Hong Kong, an important business center and one of the world's most in uential cities where East truly meets West. Take a ride on the iconic Star Ferry across Victoria Harbor, and then board one of the world's steepest funicular railways, the Peak Tram, to enjoy spectacular views of the skyline, the harbor, and the city’s green hillsides. Your tour continues to the famous fishing village of Aberdeen, with an included sampan boat ride, and finally to Stanley, a popular market town on the south side of Hong Kong Island. (B)

The energy and excitement of Manila's people make this bayside city feel electric, and you’re sure to enjoy the dramatic contrasts that characterize Manila. Find Spanish Colonial churches next to towering, ultra-modern skyscrapers and bustling food markets next to pristine shopping centers. It’s also an impressively multicultural city, with a swirl of coexisting languages, cuisines and cultures.

Kaohsiung, Taiwan (7:00 AM –4:00 PM)

Kaohsiung’s impressive architecture ranges from atmospheric temples and monasteries to soaring commercial skyscrapers and a gleaming mall topped with a Ferris wheel. The city is home to funky boutiques, colorful metro stations and modern galleries, with wide streets filled with cafés and restaurants. The seafood and noodle stalls you’ll  find in Kaohsiung are great for lunch, and their traditional, humble street food will give you an authentic taste of Taiwan!

Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan (8:00 AM –11:00 PM)

Keelung’s unique geography—it’s sheltered in a well-protected harbor—has led to its occupation by the Spanish, Japanese, French, Dutch, British and Chinese. This international heritage shows in Keelung’s abundant historical sites. And, there are plenty of coffee shops, markets and museums to discover in the compact downtown.

Naha, Japan (9:00 AM–6:00 PM)

With a fascinating past as the capital of the Ryukyu Kingdom, and a working port that dates back to the 15th century, Naha is both an exciting and laid-back modern city.

Ishigaki Island, Japan (9:00 AM–6:00 PM)

Filled with white sand beaches and rich mangrove forests, you’d be forgiven for mistaking Ishigaki for Oahu. Much like on the tropical islands it resembles, Ishigaki’s seafood is fresh, varied, and beautifully prepared.

Nagasaki, Japan (8:00 AM–6:00 PM)

Situated in the northwest of Kyushu on one of Japan’s largest islands, Nagasaki is an extremely cosmopolitan port city with a strong tourism infrastructure, fascinating history, and a picturesque harbor that’s been an active port since the 16th century. The city is home to many shops and restaurants, as well as numerous cultural and historic attractions.

Busan, South Korea (8:00 AM–5:00 PM)

Busan combines a vibrant, big-city atmosphere with a famously laid-back attitude in a subtropical setting. It offers visitors a little of everything: fashionable boutiques and a lively culture, as well as sandy beaches, hot springs, and local mountains dotted with temples. Cultural highlights include the Gamcheon Cultural Village; the spectacular Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, built into the side of a cliff; and Art Street in Sinchang-dong.

Jeju Island, South Korea (8:00 AM –5:00 PM)

Jeju is roughly the size of Maui, and has much in common with its Hawaiian counterpart. It is a volcanic island with a mild subtropical climate and offers similarly enjoyable activities, including the opportunity to lounge on picturesque white sand beaches.

Disembarkation and Sightseeing in Shanghai (8:00 AM)

After disembarkation this morning, enjoy an included tour of Shanghai. Visit the French Concession (a French territory until 1946), Old Shanghai, and the Shanghai Museum to see its collection of ancient Chinese art. After lunch on your own, it’s over to the Pudong area, famous for its skyscrapers and night time light show. Your tour will end with a stroll on the Bund, Shanghai’s riverfront boardwalk. Dinner is hosted by your Tour Director. (D)

Shanghai Leisure Day

Enjoy your final day at your leisure in Shanghai. The city is renowned for its signature Chinese Art Deco architectural style, the highlights of which include the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund—noted for its glamorous Long Bar—the Bank of China Building, and the Bank of Communications Building. Autumn Leaves Tour

Introduction

Imagine traveling through the heart of America’s history while witnessing the kaleidoscopic spectacle of fall colors in the Northeastern United States.  Our 14-day Autumn Leaves Tour takes you from Philadelphia to Gettysburg, Niagara Falls, along the shores of Lake Ontario, through the Adirondacks, the Green & White Mountains, Boston, Cape Cod, Bridgeport, New York City and back into Philadelphia against a backdrop of the rich colors of fall. 

Our tour begins where our nation began, in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - the cradle of American liberty, where you will see Independence National Historic Park, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Franklin Court.  Next you will travel through the colorful fall scenery of picturesque Pennsylvania Dutch Country stopping at an Amish outpost to learn about this traditional way of life before visiting historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - the most important battlefield of the Civil War.  You then continue north through Pennsylvania and New York State, stopping at the Corning Museum of Glass which showcases spectacular pieces of glass art and conducts demonstrations of glass blowing. 

You will need to bring your passport on this tour as you will cross the Canadian border to the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls where millions of gallons of water spew over the horseshoe-shaped falls creating a powerful sight and sound.  The tour continues along the shores of Lake Ontario to Kingston, home to Ft. Henry and the Royal Military College of Canada.  Then we take to the water on an included 2.5 hour boat cruise through the 1000 Islands enjoying a fascinating narrative of the area’s history and views of the fabulous summer homes of the rich and famous including Boldt Castle. 

Our tour then crosses back into the U.S. and travels through the colorful fall foliage of the beautiful Adirondacks with a stop at Lake Placid, site of the famous “Miracle on Ice” when the US men’s hockey team defeated the Russians in the 1990 Olympic Winter Games.  We then journey through the breathtaking Green and White Mountains stopping to visit Franconia Notch State Park and the magnificent Flume Gorge.  Turning south, the tour heads into Boston, Massachusetts and where you will enjoy a city tour including following the Freedom Trail, seeing the Boston Common and the Paul Revere House.  Next you follow the New England coastline to Cape Cod and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore with its pristine beaches, lighthouses and wild cranberry bogs.  There you will have the chance to join fellow travelers for an optional tour to Martha’s Vineyard before heading into Rhode Island for a visit to one of the famous Newport Mansions.
