Depart for Munich, Germany

Your adventure begins as you depart for Munich, Germany.

Day 2

Arrive in Munich, Germany

Arrive in magical Munich, the largest city in Bavaria, to begin your tour. In the evening, meet your fellow travelers at our included welcome dinner in the hotel. (D)

Day 3

Munich and Oberammergau Area

Wake up and enjoy a complimentary breakfast in the hotel. After your meal, you will be taken on a city tour of Munich. Explore the beauty of this Bavarian city, which possesses old- world charm and a modern cosmopolitan vibe. See the lush Englischer gardens, the grand Marienplatz, and the sprawling Viktualienmarkt. In the afternoon you will travel to the Oberammergau area where you will have the evening at your leisure. (B, D)

Day 4

Oberammergau Passion Play

Wake up in the beautiful mountain area of Bavaria, close to or in Oberammergau (hotels will not be con rmed until 2019) and prepare to enjoy the longest running Passion Play in the world this afternoon. For over 380 years, the inhabitants of Oberammergau have told the story of su ering, death, and the resurrection of Christ. Enjoy the power and inspiration of this 2,000 person production, the largest amateur dramatic performance in the world, and become part of this long- running tradition of devotion. The 5.5-hour play is divided in two parts, with a break and included dinner in between. (B, D)

Day 5

Oberammergau and Verona

Today we leave Oberammergau and travel to charming Austria to visit the mountain town of Innsbruck located in the Alps. Take a tour of the medieval old town and enjoy views of the grand Habsburg Palace and baroque cathedral. Next, you will travel to South Tyrol, gateway to the Dolomite Mountains and the Italian Alps and dotted with charming towns and boasting breathtaking scenery. In the afternoon, continue to famous Verona, where you will stay overnight. (B, D)

Day 6

Verona

This morning, awake in Verona, home of Romeo and Juliet, piazzas, and romantic winding lanes. Enjoy a city tour and hear about the history and culture of this famous city that inspired William Shakespeare and countless others. The afternoon and evening are at your leisure; perhaps enjoy some risotto, one of the famous culinary treats originating here. (B)

Verona Leisure Day

Discover more of Verona’s hidden treasures on your own, from good food to hidden corners and quaint alleyways, or choose an optional full-day excursion to the famous city of Venice. (B)

Day 8

Verona and Montecatini Terme

Today, we travel through the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, home to the real balsamic vinegar of Modena. We then arrive at Montecatini Terme, a beautiful spa town that was built around its mineral water springs, where we spend the next two nights. (B)

Day 9

Florence and Pisa Excursion Day

Today we will travel to Florence - enjoy a walking tour and marvel at the 13th century Duomo with the Brunelleschi dome and Giotto’s Campanile (bell tower). See Ghiberti’s golden “Gates of Paradise” doors at the marble-clad Baptistery of St. John, the Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio, the medieval bridge spanning the River Arno, complete with shops built along it. Continue to Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower! (B, D)

Day 10

Montecatini Terme and Rome

We leave Montecatini today and travel to Rome, where all roads lead. Along the way, enjoy the rolling Italian countryside as you travel south to one of the world’s most famous and historic cities. We stop and take the funicular up to the ancient town of Orvieto, where you can explore the rich history of this charming town and admire a variety of Etruscan, Medieval, and Renaissance art. The Orvieto funicular (a cli cable railway) rst opened in 1888 and uses water and gravity to transport its cars up and down the hillside. Once in Rome you will have the evening at your leisure to explore, relax, or indulge! (B, D)

Day 11

Rome Sightseeing

This historic and culturally rich city is a traveler’s paradise with amazing food, historic buildings, good wine, and fantastic art that will surround you during your stay. Today’s sights include outside views of the Roman Forum - once a marketplace and center of daily Roman life - and the Colosseum (entrances not included), the Piazza Navona, the renowned Spanish Steps, and the fabled Trevi Fountain, completed in 1762. Day 12

Vatican City Sightseeing

This morning, tour the Vatican City, home of the Pope. Our guided tour explores the Vatican Museums, which house some of the most important and valuable art treasures in the world. Visit the Sistine Chapel to view floor-to-ceiling biblical frescoes painted by Michelangelo, St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square. Touring the Vatican Museums requires walking up several staircases and 2-3 hours of walking. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travelers. (B, D)
