Welcome to San Diego! If you purchased airline tickets from YMT Vacations, a friendly YMT representative will greet you at the airport and transport you to your hotel. Meet your fellow travelers and learn about the days ahead at this evening’s included welcome dinner. (D)

San Diego

This morning, enjoy a panoramic tour of San Diego. You’ll see Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, Coronado Island, and Old Town San Diego. Old Town is both the city’s oldest populated area and the site of California’s first European settlement. After free time to enjoy lunch on your own, head to the Navy Pier for an afternoon self-guided tour of the USS Midway Museum. The museum aboard the United States' longest-serving aircraft carrier houses an extensive collection of aircraft. Spend the evening at your leisure. San Diego is famous for its Mexican food, particularly its tacos and signature California Burritos! (B)

Travel from San Diego to Los Angeles, stopping en route in Carlsbad for a walking tour and free time for lunch. Enjoy LA on your own tonight! (B)

Enjoy a morning guided tour of Los Angeles and Hollywood, seeing many of the can’t-miss highlights of the City of Angels. Puerto Vallarta is the quintessential Mexican resort town, overflowing with the charm of the old country. Narrow cobblestone streets are lined with shops and galleries. Restaurants provide perfectly shaded patios for you to indulge in authentic carne asada to the sounds of live music. Bargain for one-of-a-kind souvenirs, or wander the golden beaches of Banderas Bay.

One of Mexico's oldest coastal tourist destinations, Acapulco was nicknamed the “Pearl of the Pacific” by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor, and other Golden Age globe-trotters. Enjoy dazzling views of dramatic sea cliffs and lush jungles while you relax on Acapulco’s pristine beaches, stroll through its stunning botanical garden, or enjoy the history of its 17th century fort. Be sure not to miss the legendary La Quebrada cliff divers!

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

The sleepy Puerto Quetzal showcases the vibrant colors of Guatemala’s culture away from the hustle and bustle of more populated ports. Enjoy a relaxing day in Puerto Quetzal, visit a coffee plantation, or travel to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua. This elegant former capital is an incredible example of Central American colonial architecture!

San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua (10:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Welcome to Nicaragua! The country is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, with long stretches of white sand and clear blue waters. San Juan de Sur is also known for its lush, tropical landscape. Take advantage of some of its many local attractions, including the nearby Lake Nicaragua or the settlement of Granada, which was founded by Spanish conquistadors.

Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera), Costa Rica (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Sitting amid some of the most beautiful rainforests in the country, Puntarenas is a city in transition from important historical shipping port to tourist mecca.

Cross over one of humankind’s most impressive engineering feats—the legendary Panama Canal. This 51-mile artificial waterway through the nation of Panama connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, and fulfilled explorers’ centuries-long dream when it was completed in 1914. Enjoy this marvel of design as you pass through its series of locks over nearly 12 hours.

Cartagena, Colombia (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

There is beauty everywhere you look in this fascinating colonial city, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is positioned on an especially scenic stretch of the Caribbean coast, and boasts a stunning old town with phenomenal architecture and miles of remarkably preserved colonial-era stone walls. The food is spectacular, the people are friendly, and there are countless sights to take your breath away.
