Enjoy this morning at leisure or join one of our fantastic optional tours to the Getty Center or the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, at an additional cost. This evening, you're in for a real treat—YMT's float viewing event with dinner. Day 5

Santa Barbara, Solvang, and San Luis Obispo Area

Visit Santa Barbara—the American Riviera—and enjoy its Spanish mission style architecture, mild Mediterranean climate, and stunning ocean views. Situated on El Camino Real, the historic route connecting California’s chain of 21 missions, this once humble Catholic outpost has transformed into an upscale seaside resort that remains a popular escape for wealthy Angelenos. We'll have a brief stop at the lovely Santa Barbara Mission, where you can enjoy a self-guided tour.
Continue your tour up the scenic road to Solvang, a Danish replica village situated in the Santa Ynez Valley. Be sure to taste the exquisite baked goods prepared by Solvang’s renowned bakeries before traveling north to end the day in the San Luis Obispo area.

Day 6

Pismo Beach, Hearst Castle, and Monterey

In the morning, tour famous Hearst Castle. The sprawling, beautiful former estate of media mogul William Randolph Hearst offers splendid views of the coast. Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of the grand rooms inside the famous castle, with time to stroll the garden and pool areas while enjoying panoramic views. Head to Elephant Seal beach and Ragged Point, where you should keep your eyes out for California Gray Whales migrating south along the coastline. Overnight in Monterey, home to the waterfront street immortalized by John Steinbeck’s classic novel, Cannery Row. Enjoy the evening at leisure in this former fisherman’s community.

Day 7

Monterey Leisure Day

Enjoy a leisurely day in this charming seaside town. Monterey is known throughout California for its excellent clam chowder (best in a bread bowl—and do ask for extra oyster crackers) and bustling Old Town Historic District. Monterey’s beaches are perfect for strolling, especially for guests hoping to run into a colony of seals or sea lions. Join an optional tour such as whale watching, or simply explore Monterey at your own pace. The evening is yours to enjoy however you wish.

Day 8

Monterey to San Francisco

This morning, head down the 17-Mile Drive. Day 9

San Francisco - Alcatraz Visit

This morning, take the ferry to the notorious prison island of Alcatraz for an included visit. Situated on a small island just off the coast, the federal penitentiary that operated from 1934 to 1963 brought a dark mystique to “the rock.” The presence of infamous inmates like Al "Scarface" Capone, and the "Birdman" Robert Stroud helped to establish the island's notoriety. To this day, Alcatraz is known as one of the world's toughest prisons. Then, we discover the “City by the Bay” during a city tour of San Francisco. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, see Nob Hill, catch a glimpse of famed Lombard Street, and pass many more exciting sights! Finally, enjoy an optional farewell dinner on Pier 39.
