Situated along the "El Camino Real," this once humble mission post has developed into an upscale seaside resort and university town. Most likely due to moderate Mediterranean climate, it has become a popular weekend getaway destination for many Angelenos. Visit Santa Barbara Mission, one of the famous Camino Real Missions founded by Father Junipero Serra and enjoy a panoramic tour and leisure time.

Day 6

Los Angeles, Joshua Tree National Park, and Palm Springs

This morning depart for Palm Springs. Since the 1930’s, Californians have been flocking to this resort town seeking clean air and sunshine. Famous for its mid century architecture, Palm Springs has been home to presidents and entertainment stars alike. En route you will visit Joshua Tree National Park, an astonishingly beautiful desert landscape named after its most prolific inhabitant, the Joshua Tree. The tree reportedly received its name by a band of Mormons who crossed the Mojave Desert in the mid-19th century, its unique shape reminding them of a Biblical story in which Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky. Then arrive in Palm Springs where you will enjoy a panoramic city tour before you check in at your beautiful 4-star resort. Tonight your evening is at leisure to enjoy the resort and its elegant dining, or to venture into town for nightlife and entertainment.
