Venice Sightseeing

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the highlights of this amazing city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon, you are free to wander the labyrinth of canals and alleyways lined with boutiques and souvenir shops, or to simply relax and people watch over an espresso or refreshing gelato. (B)

Embarkation in Venice (7:00 PM)

Spend a leisure day in Venice before boarding the elegant MSC Opera this evening. (B)

Day 5

Koper, Slovenia (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Stop in Istrian Koper today, and discover the “city of a hundred suns”. Koper has a long and fascinating history that can be traced through its ancient Roman ruins, the Renaissance-era Venetian Loggia and Praetorian Palace, the Baroque interior of St. Mary’s Cathedral, and Yugoslavian-era Tito Square. Another highlight is Carpaccio Square located right on the harbor, where visitors can shop the stalls for Slovene antiques and souvenirs or sample foods from Slovenia and around the world.

Dubrovnik, Croatia (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Dubrovnik is widely considered to be one of Europe’s most magical places, owing largely to its awe-inspiring Old City. Enclosed by imposing stone walls, much of the Old City dates back centuries, including its spectacular 800-year-old Gothic monastery, and the world’s oldest pharmacy—serving Franciscan friars since 1317! The Pearl of the Adriatic also boasts breathtaking views of the Dalmatian coast, a stunning collection of ancient red-roofed buildings, and plenty of English speakers eager to make you feel welcome.

What trip to Italy would be complete without a stop in the legendary capital of the Roman Empire? There is history wherever you look in Rome, as well as world-class shopping, outstanding food, and a vibrant culture.

Ajaccio, Corsica, France (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Enjoy a full day in Ajaccio, Corsica, the idyllic French island where Napoleon Bonaparte was born. It boasts a stunning sapphire bay, a vibrant historic core, and a museum housed in the Bonaparte family home.

Marseille, France (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

Marseille was first established in 600 BC, making it France’s oldest city. Among the terracotta-roofed buildings lie many impressive sights, including the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde.

Day 11

Barcelona, Spain (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

This modern city features Roman ruins next door to sophisticated high-rises, innovative exhibition spaces, and one of the world’s leading sports complexes. A spectacular display of architecture, Barcelona boasts 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as a long, sandy coastline, fabulous food, cultural and artistic exhibitions, and shopping. Use your time in this fascinating port to see the world famous Las Ramblas, Gaudí's Sagrada Familia, Olympic Park, and views from Montjuic.

Funchal, Madeira, Portugal (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

This mountainous “Flower Isle” has been a popular European destination for centuries. Discover the island’s capital Funchal, named for the native funcho, or fennel, growing on the hills surrounding the bay. This idyllic island is full of beautiful beaches, stunning lava-formed landscapes, and lush green forests. Be sure to sample the famed Madeira wines!

Bridgetown, Barbados (12:00 noon – 6:00 PM)

Barbados’ capital city is one of the Caribbean’s biggest tourist draws. Its expansive old town, Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison, is an especially stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site. You don’t want to miss the many serene beaches, whose soft sand and warm, crystal clear water are the perfect place to dip your toes.

St. John’s, Antigua (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

This island is a tropical paradise with palm-fringed beaches and crystal-clear water. Explore picturesque English Harbor and St. John’s Cathedral, a centuries-old Anglican church.

Day 22

Phillipsburg, St. Maarten (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

St. Maarten is divided between two nations— France and the Netherlands. You’ll visit the island’s Dutch speaking southern side which boasts crystal-clear turquoise water, white sandy beaches and lush green hills.
