It features a wonderful blend of ancient history and a buzzing metropolis, providing visitors with an intriguing collection of landmarks to explore.

The capital of Athens is a must for any tourist heading to Greece. Modern buildings and architecture are weaved alongside ancient monuments to form a seamless cityscape that is both unique and awe-inspiring.

A popular attraction is the Acropolis, or Citadel of Athens. It is home to the Parthenon temple, which is dedicated to Athena, the goddess of wisdom, female arts, warfare, strength and more. The ancient structure has been standing since the 5th century BC and is one of Greece's most iconic structures.

Other sites tourists may want to visit while in the capital city include Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier and Hadrian's Arch. The Arch is another ancient monument built in the 2nd century BC in honor of the Roman Emperor of the same name.
