There are so many options to choose from when selecting a vacation destination, sometimes it can be difficult to find a spot that caters to each travel companion. However, savvy mature travelers can look to Greece for a place that offers a mix of ancient history, metropolitan cityscape and beautiful beaches for those who want to relax in the sun.

Begin in the capital city of Athens, where ancient monuments are intertwined with the urban lifestyle. There is plenty of photo opportunities and sightseeing to do here, so make sure to check out Parliament, Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, Hadrian's Arch, the Parthenon and Acropolis.

Next, head to Delphi to see one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Temple of Zeus. It is nearly 2,500 years old, as it was built between 472 and 456 BC. Here, seniors will also see the Olympic Stadium, where the very first Olympic games were held in the 8th century BC.

For a day at the beach, head to the volcanic island of Santorini. If cool waters tend to hinder senior travelers from splashing around in the sea, here's a tip: the beaches are names after the color of their sand (e.g. the Red Beach and the Black Beach) and the darker colored beaches have warmer waters, as they are heated by Santorini's lava.
