A trip down the Danube offers a rich taste of Europe
The Danube River touches 10 countries throughout Europe, so it is no surprise that a cruise down its waters offers vacationers a unique experience. The second-longest river in the continent, the Danube has been a mainstay in European life since the days of the Roman Empire and is certainly not lacking when it comes to beautiful landscapes, historical sights and a varied cultural experience.

There are a number of intriguing cities and towns along the Danube, but perhaps none is more appealing to history buffs than Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This popular destination is home to one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the world. It includes wealth of impressive centuries-old structures including St. James Church, which dates as far back as 1322.

The Danube covers much more ground than just Germany, and a cruise down the elegant river will give vacationers a taste of the Czech Republic as well. A stop in Prague, the country's capital, is in order, specifically Wenceslas Square. Located in the heart of the city, this bustling hub of activity has been home to numerous historical events over the years, and is a must see for any European traveler.
