A Tip To Prep For Your Trip
As you make your journey to the east-most point of the tour, you’ll pass through the Andes mountains and her subranges. We want to give you a reminder about the possibility of Altitude sickness. Altitude sickness occurs when you cannot get enough oxygen from the air at high altitudes. This causes symptoms such as a headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dizziness, lethargy, and trouble sleeping, among others. Common recommendations to avoid the effects of altitude sickness are to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and salty foods. Drinking more water than usual is also very important and will help reduce or prevent symptoms. There are some medications that can help reduce the symptoms; please consult your doctor for more information.
Our Tour Staff’s Recommendation
Get into the spirit of Peru with a book! Our staff recommends, “Turn Right at Machu Picchu” by Mark Adams. This book combines history, adventure, and travel as the author retraces the steps of Hiram Bingham, the explorer who brought Machu Picchu to the world’s attention.
