Rose Parade Vacation Package Details

Fully immerse yourself in the pomp and circumstance of the 134th Rose Parade, then take the scenic route up the California coast to San Francisco.

Los Angeles is abuzz in the days leading up to the Rose Parade, and you'll be in the middle of the excitement. You'll enjoy behind-the-scenes access to the float barn where the flower-covered stars of the parade are getting their finishing touches by a huge team of volunteers. Add to that a private presentation and dinner with the Tournament of Roses Committee, and you'll be an expert by the time the parade begins. The day of the Rose Parade, your grandstand seats are perfectly placed for optimum parade viewing.

The excitement of the Rose Parade will fade into the background as you travel up the coast to scenic beachside towns and landmarks, including Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, and Monterey. One of the grandest homes in the world, Hearst Castle, overlooks the waves in San Simeon. Is it any wonder that presidents and Golden Age movie stars looked forward to an invite?

Arrive in Los Angeles

Welcome to LA! If you booked your flight with YMT, a representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After an informative briefing on the days ahead, you are free to enjoy the evening. Take advantage of our free shuttle to nearby Manhattan Beach for dinner on your own or a sunset stroll along the Strand. This walking path sandwiched between posh mansions and white sand beaches is frequented by surfers, professional volleyball players, and celebrities.

Los Angeles Leisure Day

Enjoy the day at leisure or join one of our fantastic optional tours at an additional cost. This evening, you're in for a real treat—YMT's float viewing event with dinner. On this amazing tour held in Pasadena, you'll go behind the scenes to see the floats and flowers up close. You will have plenty of time to talk to and ask questions of the White Suiters, the Rose Parade volunteers clad in bright white uniforms. Then, enjoy a casual dinner in the official Rose Parade event tent. Learn the history and traditions of the Rose Parade during a presentation hosted by the Tournament of Roses Committee. (D)

Los Angeles City Tour

Today you’ll take a guided tour of Los Angeles and Hollywood, seeing many of the can’t miss highlights of the City of Angels. View the iconic metal curves of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the ornate TCL Chinese Theatre, Beverly Hills, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

134th Tournament of Roses Parade

Witness the 134th Tournament of Roses Parade! Watch in wonder from your reserved grandstand seats as the floats covered in millions of leaves and fragrant petals pass by. See elegant equestrian units stride down Colorado Boulevard to the sound of marching bands from around the country. “America’s New Year’s Celebration” is an institution that you’ll love even more after experiencing it in person! Santa Barbara, Solvang, and San Luis Obispo Area

Visit Santa Barbara. The “American Riviera” is known for its Spanish-style architecture, mild Mediterranean climate, and ocean views. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the lovely Santa Barbara Mission. The “Queen of the Missions” boasts magnificent twin bell towers, sprawling gardens, and ocean views from its position on a hill overlooking downtown Santa Barbara. Continue your tour up the scenic road to Solvang, a charming Danish replica village situated in the picturesque Santa Ynez Valley. Be sure to taste the baked goods prepared by Solvang’s renowned bakeries before traveling north to end the day in the San Luis Obispo area.

Pismo Beach, Hearst Castle, and Monterey

In the morning, tour famous Hearst Castle. The sprawling estate once owned by media mogul William Randolph Hearst offers splendid views of the coast. Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of the grand rooms inside the castle, with time to stroll the garden and pool areas. Continue to Elephant Seal Beach and Ragged Point. Keep your eyes out for California Gray Whales migrating south along the coastline. Catching a spouting whale in the distance is an experience you’ll never forget! Overnight in Monterey, home to the waterfront street immortalized by John Steinbeck’s classic novel, Cannery Row.

Monterey Leisure Day

Enjoy a leisurely day in this charming seaside town. Monterey is known throughout California for its excellent clam chowder (best in a bread bowl—and do ask for extra oyster crackers) and bustling Old Town Historic District. Monterey’s beaches are perfect for strolling, especially for guests hoping to run into a colony of seals or sea lions. Join an optional tour to participate in a unique local activity, or simply explore the historical fishing village at your own pace.

Monterey to San Francisco

This morning, head down the breathtaking 17-Mile Drive. Enjoy views of Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove, taking the opportunity to snap a picture of the famed Lone Cypress on a quick stop before arriving in San Francisco. Enjoy the city on your own, or join an optional evening tour followed by dinner in Chinatown.

San Francisco - Alcatraz Visit

Travel by ferry across the cold, misty San Francisco Bay for a tour of the notorious prison island of Alcatraz. Situated on a small island just off the coast, the federal penitentiary that operated from 1934 to 1963 nicknamed “The Rock” was one of the world’s toughest prisons. It housed bank robbers, outlaws, and some of the era’s most infamous gangsters. The dark mystique of inmates like Al "Scarface" Capone, and the "Birdman" Robert Stroud helped bolster its fearsome reputation. In addition, despite numerous attempts, no inmate every successfully escaped from Alcatraz. Then, discover the bustling “City by the Bay” during a comprehensive city tour of San Francisco.
