Boston and the Freedom Trail

Spend the day enjoying Boston, the epicenter of the Revolution and one of America’s most interesting and energetic cities. Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of many of Boston’s historic landmarks including the Paul Revere House and Boston Common. Break for a delicious lunch on your own at Quincy Market. Built in 1826, it is among the most famous places in Boston to grab a steaming bowl of chowda’ or a slice of Boston Cream Pie. Spend some time strolling the Freedom Trail. (B)

Cape Cod and Plymouth

You will first visit Cape Cod, known for its charming small towns and lighthouses. Fondly known as ‘America’s hometown’, Plymouth, MA is where the Pilgrims arrived in 1620. Today you’ll visit a restored replica of the original Mayflower ship that brought them to our shores over 400 years ago. (B)

Burlington

En route to Burlington, visit a Shaker Village. These living history museums provide insight into the lives of the “Shakers,” a religious community that dates back centuries. Quebec City and Cruise Embarkation (Departs at 4:00 PM)

Explore Quebec City, one of North America’s first settlements. Old Quebec’s ramparts are Canada’s last remaining fortified city walls. Enjoy a panoramic city tour of Old Quebec, where you will see the Château Frontenac and the Plains of Abraham. After time for lunch on your own, you’ll board the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Gem. (B, D)

Opulent clapboard villas lead the way toward Charlottetown’s beautiful Victoria Park. We encourage you to really relish your time on Prince Edward Island. Sample scrumptious homemade jams such as strawberry rhubarb and wild blueberry. Stroll the boardwalk, and visit the Anne of Green Gables homestead to pay homage to Canada’s favorite slate-cracking redhead. (B, L, D)

Sydney, Nova Scotia(9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Located on Cape Breton Island, Sydney is surrounded by scenic beauty. Step back in time to 1744 by visiting the Fortress of Louisbourg as part of an optional shore excursion where you will learn about the vital relationship between France and the fledgling American Colonies. (B, L, D)

Day 11

Halifax (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Nova Scotia’s exquisitely preserved capital city was founded in 1749; go back in time with a visit to The Citadel to see the Old Town Clock. Waterfront warehouses known as the Historic Properties harken back to Halifax’s bygone days as a trading hub for privateer ships commissioned by governments to pillage, steal and burn merchant vessels. Day 12

Portland (11:00 AM - 8:00 PM), Eastport or Saint John Bay

Famous for its picture-perfect lighthouses, delightful historic district, world-class museums, and a thriving culinary and craft beer scene, Maine’s largest city is a definite contender for America’s coolest port town. The red brick buildings of the historic Old Port district house many of Portland’s best restaurants. Take a stroll along the waterfront to enjoy gorgeous views of Casco Bay, and ask anyone you see in bright orange overalls how the lobster pots are doing. Say hello to Bigfoot and learn all about the Mongolian Death Worm at the International Cryptozoology Museum. Finally, Portland Headlight is always worth a stop. It’s Maine’s oldest operating lighthouse. (B, L, D)

Day 13

Bar Harbor (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Bar Harbor has retained much of its charm from the glory days of the 1900s when it became a popular vacation destination for America’s richest and most powerful families. Look for Cadillac Mountain towering above the forest and rugged shores of Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor’s next-door neighbor. (B, L, D)
