Arrive in Munich at the peak of the Christmas Market season! If you purchased airline tickets from YMT Vacations, a representative will welcome you at the airport and transport you to your hotel. Relax on your own this afternoon, then get to know your fellow travelers over a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Travel to Salzburg, whose Alpine views and dazzling old town make it one of Austria’s most popular tourist destinations. Explore this magical town on foot, with highlights such as Schloss Hellbrunn, Mirabell Palace and Salzburg Cathedral, as well as Fortress Hohensalzburg, and Mozart’s Birthplace. After this highly enjoyable tour, head to the Salzburg Christmas Market located in the heart of the historical old town. It is one of the oldest and most traditional Christmas markets in Europe, dating back to the 15th century. The market is held in front of the stunning Salzburg Cathedral and Hohensalzburg Fortress, which are decorated with thousands of twinkling lights.

Vienna’s Christmas Market, also known as Christkindlmarkt, is a magical winter wonderland that takes place in the heart of the city during the festive season. The market is held in front of the City Hall, which is transformed into a giant Advent calendar. A new window opens each day throughout December. The market itself is a sprawling maze of wooden huts and stalls. You’ll get a chance to experience it as part of our optional shore excursion package for an additional fee.

Nestled along the shimmering blue Danube, Dürnstein is a fairytale village where pastel-colored buildings, terraced vineyards, and the ruins of a castle that once held Richard the Lionheart create a postcard-perfect escape. Wander cobbled streets scented with apricots and wine, and dive deep into the town’s medieval history. Then, proceed to Melk, one of Austria’s prettiest small cities. Melk’s old town is lined with quaint buildings, nearly all of which boast stunning river views.

Disembark from your cruise, and explore Nuremberg today. Step into a winter fairytale at the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, one of the oldest and most magical Christmas markets in the world. Set against the backdrop of the city’s medieval old town, rows of red-and-white striped stalls glow with twinkling lights, offering handcrafted ornaments, wooden toys, and the scent of fresh gingerbread in the air. Sip warm mulled wine as the Christkind, Nuremberg’s golden angel, opens the market with a festive prologue. The air is filled with music, laughter, and the timeless spirit of the season, making it a must-visit holiday wonderland.

Return to Munich to take an illuminating city tour. See the beautiful Baroque Nymphenburg Palace, Munich Residenz, and Marienplatz in the heart of old town. You’ll also see Frauenkirche, Hofgarten, and the Glockenspiel clock. Much of the city’s beautifully preserved architecture will be lit up with Christmas lights. Afterward, spend some time in Munich’s Christmas Market. This festive event is full of music, colorful lights, and yuletide treats such as flavorful mulled gluhwein, and gingerbread. The center of the action is in the Marienplatz, where you will see an enormous decorated fir tree. Your tour ends with a delicious farewell dinner.
